HeadshotSimon M.S. Selwyn, BS, RN, BSN, MSN, CNP, PMHNP, is a board certified and licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business from USC in 1998, an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2013 from University of Massachusetts, and finally a Master of Science in Nursing from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.

After obtaining his business degree, he spent 13 years in sales and recruitment in the software industry. The combination of watching his father, who is a cardiologist, serve patients in the Boston area and a desire to serve his fellow human beings in a more meaningful manner, led to a change in his career in 2011. After obtaining his nursing degree, Simon worked in surgical/medical/trauma intensive care units for 4 years at such institutions as Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center, eventually becoming a certified critical care nurse. This provided him with a deep understanding of acute care medicine, human physiology, and the related pharmacology. As a life-long learner, he entered the Northeastern University Nurse Anesthesia program and would spend 18 months of academic and clinical instruction and training at Tufts Medical Center before transitioning to the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program. Simon has had the privilege to care for patients in acute inpatient psychiatric units at McLean Hospital, Westborough Behavioral Health Hospital, and MiraVista Behavioral Health Center. Rounding this out was an 8-month clinical preceptorship with Dr. McDonnell at South Shore Psychiatric Services before he joined the group as a psychiatric nurse practitioner.

Simon’s greatest strengths are his compassion and empathy for patients, the psychiatric, medical, and surgical training he received as a nurse and graduate student, deep and diverse life experiences, and his passion for learning and education in the field of psychiatry. When not working he can be found caring for his two young daughters and exercising at the gym.
